Antennas PhD Student Wins Award at ‘Engineering Yes 2014’

Miss Miss Nishtha Chopra, a PhD student in the Antennas and Electromagnetics Research Group at the School of Electronic and Computer Engineering was one of the participants of 'Engineering Yes 2014' at which she received an award.

Engineering YES is training competition for postgraduate students and post-doctoral researchers, providing them a commercial platform to present their realistic ideas for a fictitious start-up company. The programme involves an intensive three-day roller-costar ride of the business world and an opportunity to interact with investors and industry experts.

Miss Nishtha Chopra, a PhD student supervised by Dr Akram Alomainy of the Antennas and Electromagnetics Research Group at the School of Electronic and Computer Engineering was one of the participants of this programme. Her team called, “ChargeWay” comprised of five researchers from different backgrounds and together they proposed the idea of contactless charging of vehicles to reduce the CO2 emission. By the end of the competition, her team bagged the title of “Best Team Work” and a cash prize of £ 250. In her own words, “ My experience with Engineering YES was worthwhile and now I feel it is useful to be aware of the technology market to understand the nitty-gritties of business start-ups”.
