Profile

Dr. Chao Liu is a Lecturer in Computer Science at the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). She also teaches on the Joint Programme (JP) between QMUL and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT).

Before joining QMUL, Dr. Chao Liu worked as a lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Institute of Finance and Technology at University College London (UCL). He leads the module Decentralised Finance and Blockchain in the MSc Banking and Digital Finance programme. Chao holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from Queen Mary University of London with concentration in Blockchain technology. The research and teaching are focused on central bank digital currency (CBDC) with ECB, decentralised finance (De-Fi), plastic waste management, and smart grids optimisation. He has publications in leading international journals and conferences in blockchain-enabled research
