Bayesian Artificial Intelligence for Optimal Decision Making

Supervisor: Dr Anthony Constantinou

Research group(s): Risk & Information Management

Are you interested in applying Bayesian inference to a real-world problem of your interest? Bayesian networks have found application in a wide range of areas. This project involves investigating problems beyond prediction and may benefit from a) quantification of uncertainty for risk assessment, b) discovering cause-and-effect relationships, c) determining optimal decisions for intervention, and d) counterfactual analysis. The project will focus on both the theory and application of Bayesian networks. For some examples, refer to our research work here: http://bayesian-ai.eecs.qmul.ac.uk/. Applicants must demonstrate strong interest in Bayesian inference and have strong computing or mathematical skills.
