The following details our general entry requirements which cover most undergraduate programmes but please make sure to also check individual programmes for specific requirements.
We tend to refer to entry requirements in terms of standard British qualifications (e.g. A-levels) however, admissions tutors at Queen Mary are familiar with international qualifications and welcome applications from students with equivalent qualifications.
The admissions information on this web page reflects our current standard admissions criteria (which does change from time to time) and supersedes any information in printed publications.
For further information about the A-level requirements across our courses, please check the course finder pages for each specific undergraduate programme.
Queen Mary University of London welcomes applications from students currently studying Level 3 BTEC qualifications and will consider you for entry to the majority of our undergraduate courses. The typical entry requirements will vary according to the course you are applying for.
For further information please see: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/undergraduate/apply/entry/btec/
Students from non-English-speaking countries normally require IELTS (6.0 average) for admission. For more information on other English Language Qualifications.

You will need an award of EB at 82% or above overall.
Some programmes require maths and science qualifications. Where these subjects are specified in the A-level requirements, they should be included (at grade eight minimum). Please see the individual programmes for specific requirements.
- We consider applications from students with the Access to Higher Education Diploma in Computing for our BSc degrees.
- The minimum academic requirement is to achieve 60 credits overall, with 45 credits at Level 3, of which 30 credits must be at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit or higher.
- Applications are considered on a case by case basis. Due to the high volume of applications, we do not make offers of study purely on the basis of meeting grade requirements.
- GCSE Mathematics at grade B/5 is required in addition to the Access qualification.
We welcome applicants with EPQ and may make more flexible offers to applicants offering an EPQ; see: the college's central web page for more information on EPQ
We will consider applications on a case by case basis and must be relevant to the programme you are applying for. Please note students should be achieving very high grades in their studies. Entry will normally be to BEng or BSc only.
All applications should be made through UCAS before the 15th January UCAS deadline.
We accept a wide range of other qualifications, and will be happy to advise you on your circumstances. For information please contact us.
