ECS418W Business Modelling

Module code: ECS418W

Credits: 15
Semester: SEM2

The aim of this module is to provide a grounding in mathematical concepts and practical experience in developing quantitative models and solutions methods based around statistics.

In this module, you will gain:

  • an introduction to key issues associated with quantitative models and associated processes that support problem solving and decision making.
  • quantitative skills and knowledge needed to underpin such problem solving whilst modelling systems.
  • familiarity and confidence in applying both mathematical notation and quantitative problem solution methods.
  • the ability to demonstrate, using case studies, the application of mathematical models to a range of engineering activities.

By the end of the module you will be able to apply critical thinking, models, and methods to a range of IT activities; build quantitative models to aid decision making and the optimum solution of management decisions; show familiarity and confidence in the use of mathematical notation and basic mathematical skills used in managerial problem solving.
