A fully funded PhD position is available focussing on Learning representations using Deep Learning methodologies for Analysis and Synthesis in the field of Multimedia. The position is in the Multimedia and Vision research group under the supervision of Prof. Ioannis Patras.

The position is in the framework of the EU project AI4media in collaborations with major European academic and industrial partners. The project aspires to become a centre of excellence and a wide network of researchers across Europe and beyond, with a focus on delivering the next generation of core AI advances to serve the key sector of Media and to make sure that the European values of ethical and trustworthy AI are embedded in future AI deployments.

Who can apply?

Successful applicants should have the following profile:

  • Hold or be completing a Masters degree at distinction or first class level, or equivalent, in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
  • Very good programming skills and preferably experience with Deep Learning tools and packages.

For the above PhD topic, we are offering a scholarship to both ordinarily resident in the UK and international students.

Funding

This is a fully-funded 3-year PhD studentship starting in September 2020 which will cover the cost of tuition fees and will provide an annual tax-free stipend of £17,285. The grant will also provide funding for conference travel, equipment, and for attending other project-related events.
